How it works, in practice

At key handover you have two options. The first is the no-deposit option: you add the full coverage insurance at €6 a day, and that is all. No card imprint, no envelope of cash left at the counter, no excess if the car gets damaged. The second is the classic option, with a deposit of 3,000 to 8,000 MAD depending on the car, blocked on a card or left in cash and returned when you bring the car back.

Most of our customers choose the first. Over a week's rental, €42 of insurance replaces a deposit of several thousand dirhams and the worry about a scratch in a car park. You pick the option on the day, when you sign the contract.

Why the big brands ask for a deposit and we don't

The international rental companies at the airport block the deposit on a credit card in the driver's name, often €1,000 or more, and the card limit has to be high enough. Many travellers only have a debit card, or do not want that amount frozen during their holiday.

We made a different choice. The full coverage insurance covers the car entirely, so we do not need a guarantee from you. It includes 24/7 roadside assistance and a replacement car in case of breakdown. What you pay is written on the contract, and the price shown at booking is the final price.

What you need to rent

An identity document (passport or national ID), a driving licence held for more than two years, and a minimum age of 21. For the Touareg the minimum age is 25. A second driver is free, under the same conditions.

No credit card is required: you can pay in cash or with a debit card. If you book online, no prepayment is taken and cancellation is free at any time.

›Does renting with no deposit cost more?

It costs €6 a day more than the classic option, which is the price of the full coverage insurance. In return the excess drops to zero and nothing is blocked. On a Clio 5 diesel at €29 a day, the no-deposit rental comes to €35 a day all in.

›What happens if I have an accident with the no-deposit option?

You fill in an accident report with us or with the other driver, and that is the end of it for you: the excess is zero with the full coverage insurance, you do not pay for repairs. Only damage caused deliberately or under the influence of alcohol stays at your expense, as with any rental company.

›Can I rent with no deposit and no credit card?

Yes. Payment is made at pick-up, in cash or by debit card. A credit card is only used if you choose the classic option with a blocked deposit, and even then the deposit can be left in cash.

›Can I change option at the last minute?

Yes, when you sign the contract. If you had planned the deposit option and you prefer full coverage after all, just tell the agent and the contract is adjusted on the spot.
