Agadir with children and a car: outings, child seats and the right hours

With children, a car changes the week. You leave when the nap is over, you get back before the 6 pm meltdown, you bring the cool box and the parasol. Here is the week we recommend to families who rent with us, with the practical things nobody tells you before you arrive.

Child seats: ask when booking

We provide rear-facing baby seats, child seats and boosters. Give the age and weight in the comment field of the booking, or on WhatsApp after confirmation, so the right model is fitted in the car at key handover. If you travel with your own seat, it fits with the seat belt, as Isofix is not fitted on every model.

Which car for a family

Two children with two suitcases and a pushchair: the Logan at €29 a day takes everything in the boot, and the manual gearbox is no trouble on the flat coast roads. Two adults, three children and the grandparents: the 7-seat Jogger at €45 a day, with a real boot even with every seat in use. At the airport, handover is in the arrivals hall and the car is parked fifty metres away, which matters when you are carrying a sleeping child.

The outings that work with children

• •Crocoparc in Drarga, a quarter of an hour from Agadir: hundreds of Nile crocodiles in a shaded garden, parking on site. Go in the morning, before the heat.
• •The Valley of the Birds, right in the centre, free: an hour among the aviaries and the goats, ideal for a late afternoon.
• •Taghazout or Imourane beach, twenty minutes north: at low tide the rock pools keep little ones busy for hours. Bring water shoes.
• •Paradise Valley, 1 h 15 by road: swimming in the pools in spring, and a twenty minute walk that five year olds manage without trouble.
• •Souk El Had, closed on Mondays: go in through the spice gate, do one aisle, come out before everyone gets tired.

The rhythm of a day

Between June and September, the beach happens before 11 am or after 5 pm, the rest of the time it is the pool or indoors. That is exactly what the car allows: one outing in the morning, back to the hotel for lunch and a nap, a second short outing at the end of the day. Restaurants on the seafront have high chairs; those in the villages rarely do.

On the road

Distances are short, the roads are good, and Agadir's roundabouts just need a little attention. Keep water and biscuits in the car, the air conditioning on, and plan a stop every hour on long drives. Parking is paid to the attendant, 5 to 10 dirhams, and they will keep an eye on the pushchair left in the boot.

Mileage is unlimited and the full coverage insurance at €6 a day covers the car with no deposit. With children, not having to block several thousand dirhams on the card on the first day of the holiday is already a good start.
